I was just textn my dad n showin him pics of my leaf sprung project n my monster truck project n got on the subject of locktite on bolts. He said not to use locktite on them, it could cause them to strip or break off. So far, knock on wood, i havent had that problem. But he said use pepto bismol as locktite alternative. I never woulda thought of that. Wen it dries, it does turn to a chalky paste kinda like locktite does. Might b worth a try. Shoot, a bottle of pepto would last forever as a locktite alt. Plus if u feel sick workin on your tiny trucks, just take a swig lmbo

Blue thread lock is fine on RCs.

Some people also use nail polish as an alternative to Loctite.

I was gonna say the same thing, Blue (or medium) is fine for RC but dont use the red as its intended to be permanent and requires heat for removal. Though your fathers idea for an alternative threadlock is still pretty cool and definitely unique "thumbsup"

Small hole gauges work nicely to remove bearings from blind bores.

I was just thinking yesterday how much extra functionality I've gotten out of my hot air rework station. It's just a cheap unit, but I used it for a bunch of different stuff:

Shrinking heat shrink tubing - 150°F
Flashing off fresh paint, including spray paint and modeling acrylics - 120°F
Melting small hairs and stubs on 3D prints - 210°F
Warming 3D printed pieces to add bends/shaping - 190-220°F
Decals that have wrinkles or edges that won't quite stick down, hit them with a bit of air, then hold the decal in place for 20 seconds - 120°F

I was looking to cross train to be an jet engine mech on A-10s, and the engine shop used milk of magnesia for thread locker on the jet engines. I was pretty shocked by that.

How about the same deal, with a twist

Welding requires one to acquire many clamps. Half of all welding projects is figuring out how to hold stuff, This also goes for RC building, so simple clamp set can be made using clothespins.

Pretty sure this not a new idea, but for others that may not have though about it, a picture.
Also seen a lazy susan, great for painting

What's funny, everyone has these goofy helpers used for building. Some are usable, interesting, some only the inventor understands. :lmao:

JB Weld...for lexan body?!?!?!

I have a few areas that cracked or broke, applied some JB weld, inside and out, now I have a nice little bondo patch along the bottom of the door.

It's functional and pleasing to look at on the old Blue Honcho.

Soldering iron to burn rust holes in body. Yes, I use a completely different tip when I solder

Also used my chassis stand to put my body on and spin it to paint!

A chain saw raker file for filing the depth gauges on the chain.

Around 6” long and sharp.

I use it to open the holes on one side of a servo for mounting on my Trx4. Only takes a few licks.

I also use it to sharpen my splitting axes as well. Takes a lot of metal off very smoothly.

Pferd is the actual brand I use.
