We’re fighting to restore access to 500,000+ books in court this week. Join us!
Can You Chip In?
Dear Patron: Please don't scroll past this. The Internet Archive is a nonprofit fighting for universal access to quality information. We build and maintain all our own systems, but we don’t charge for access, sell user information, or run ads. Instead, we're powered by online donations averaging $15.58. We'd be deeply grateful if you'd join the one in a thousand users that support us financially.
We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute this Wednesday, we promise it will be put to good use. Our resources are crucial for knowledge lovers everywhere—so if you find all these bits and bytes useful, please pitch in.

Subject: Animal Farm and the Dutch parliament in Sept. 2018
This book is an excellent story, parable, if you like, where George Orwell uses metaphors representing human affairs, the playground of power, hierarchy, manipulation, hypnosis and slavery. It's no accident, I believe, that this book was published on August 17 1945, about 3 months after the end of WW2.
This book is used by a Dutch politician, Thierry Baudet, to quote and present it as a description, a diagnosis if you will, of the Dutch parliament's functioning, at that time, Sept. 2018. The faces of members of parliament, listening to this unusual presentation, are priceless. A mix of smirking, embarrassment, shame, barely contained anger and awkwardness. They're compared to pigs on two legs!

During the 3 years of endless Brexit debates in Britain, 2016-2019, I've noticed that this book was flying over the counter, while I was staying in Britain as a Dutchy.
